This event will feature a presentation on Earth Law Center’s work to implement New York’s Green Amendment, alongside the launch of the second edition of Earth Law: Emerging Ecocentric Law—A Guide for Practitioners, a leading text in the global movement to recognize the Rights of Nature and reimagine humanity’s relationship with the living world.
Drawing from real-world legal campaigns, community partnerships, and international precedents, the discussion will explore how ecocentric law—laws that recognize the rights and intrinsic value of nature—can be applied at the local level. Topics will include the practical use of the Green Amendment, Rights of Nature frameworks, and emerging tools for communities seeking to protect ecosystems through innovative law and governance.
The evening will include a short presentation, moderated discussion, and time for informal conversation. Light refreshments will be provided. Admission is free, with donations welcome.
